Roundwood House is an 18th century Georgian Palladian villa, nestled in 18 acres of park and native woodland.
History & Family
Hannah’s parents Frank and Rosemarie Kennan bought Roundwood House in 1983. Since then our family have preserved this home and its history, in beautiful Laois, for future generations.
Grounds
Roundwood House is surrounded by precious native Irish woodland and tranquil meadows.
Our woodland supports native mammals & birds. We have a wonderful array of both on our 18 acres, from badgers and hedgehogs to red squirrels, hares, pine martens & foxes.
Perimeter Walk
Ramble along the Perimeter Walk, through the wildflower meadow, past beautiful outbuildings and beneath 300-year-old native trees. A stunning stroll.
Library
With comfy leather armchairs and over 2,000 books to browse, Frank’s Library of Civilisation is the perfect spot to spend time relaxing.

Double Room
Stay in an elegant vintage-style double bedroom, with antique furniture, artwork, warm lighting and sash windows letting natural light in.

Our large twin rooms provide you with plenty of space to unwind, surrounded by art, period pieces and wonderful colour.

Dining
Dinner at Roundwood House centres around seasonal, thoughtful cooking using ingredients sourced as locally as possible.
Paddy cooks a four-course set menu on the evenings that we are open, usually served communally in the dining room, with private dining also an option.
Meals begin with the breaking of Paddy’s sourdough and unfold at an easy pace, with good conversation by the fire and, now and again, a song after dinner.
