The Gordon Bennett Cup Race, dating back to 1903 in Ireland, paved the way for modern Grand Prix racing. Held on the June Bank Holiday every year, the route covers a historic journey through the beautiful Irish countryside and into the picturesque towns and villages of counties Kildare, Carlow and Laois.
While the famous Gordon Bennett route was raced by the world’s greatest daredevils at record-breaking speeds in 1903, organisers recommend that you set yourself a much easier pace! The run is open to cars 30 years old over only.
This fun run takes place over the June Bank Holiday weekend from Friday 29th May to Monday 1st June 2026, with the midland County of Laois in Ireland as the event base. Also covering other Counties, including Carlow and Kildare, all three of which were chosen for the original 1903 race. This historic route offers visitors many interesting and scenic locations in the region, while celebrating and discovering ” The Race that saved Motor Sport”.
