Breakfast
Breakfast at Roundwood House
Breakfast at Roundwood House is unhurried and cooked to order. It is included for guests staying in the main house and can be added for cottage guests at an extra cost.
Mornings usually start with homemade yoghurt, house breads and Roundwood’s famous griddle scones, along with marmalade and jams, organic oats from The Merry Mill and fruit from the garden when it is in season.
There are locally produced sausages, bacon and pudding from our butcher Mick, plus eggs from our own hens, topped up with eggs from nearby Granstown Farm.
Smoked trout from Goatsbridge Farm in Kilkenny also makes regular appearances on the breakfast table.
Tea is loose leaf, served in pots under tea cosies knitted by Blanka, and coffee is freshly ground for each pot.
We are very happy to cook vegetarian breakfasts and we always take good care of guests with dietary requirements or allergies.
If you let us know in advance, suitable options can be ready for you.
Hannah oversees breakfast service, and Natalia is our breakfast cook, keeping an eye on the kitchen and making sure everyone is well fed and ready for the day ahead.

Locally Sourced
There has been a definite trend towards locally sourced food and drink of late and we thoroughly approve! We make it our mission to track down high quality breakfast ingredients from the local area – and make whatever we can ourselves, right here at Roundwood House.
Our sausages and bacon come from Mick, our local butcher. Puddings come from Inch House in Tipperary and our free range duck and hen’s eggs come from our own hens, with extra supplies from the nearby, family-run Granstown Farm.
We source delicious smoked trout from Goatsbridge Farm in Kilkenny. Finally, we make our own bread, griddle scones, marmalade jams and yoghurt at Roundwood House using tried and tested recipes that have been handed down the generations.
