A stay at our 300 year-old home really is the quintessential country house experience. We’re a family-run B&B where the very best of Laois hospitality and warmth is waiting for you.
Roundwood House is not a typical B&B so much as a lived-in Georgian home that opens its doors to guests. This 300-year-old house offers the classic country house experience: comfortable beds, creaking floorboards, period furniture and a slow, unhurried start to the day over a delicious, home-cooked Irish breakfast.
Only an hours drive away from Dublin, in Mountrath and at the foot of the Slieve Mountains Roundwood House has plenty to offer all guests.
Our Rooms
Stay in a double bedroom with antique furniture, old paintings, warm lighting and sash windows that fill the room with natural light. Each room has its own quiet charm and a strong sense of history.
Twin Room
Our twin rooms offer plenty of space to relax, with period furniture, original features and a calm, welcoming feel. Ideal for friends, siblings or anyone who prefers their own bed.
Triple Room
Ideal for three, these rooms have all the comfort and Georgian charm that Roundwood House is known for. A great option for families or small groups.
Bedrooms at Roundwood House
We have six bedrooms in the Main House, each one spacious, unique and ensuite. Original architectural features have been carefully preserved, while gracious views of the gardens or stable yard add to the sense of peace and character. Rooms can be booked for single, double, twin or triple occupancy, depending on availability.
On arrival, complimentary tea or coffee with homemade biscuits is served in the Drawing Room. A full Irish breakfast is included each morning and served until 11 o’clock. Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.
The Yellow House
For groups that require more than the six bedrooms in the Main House, the Yellow House can also be booked. It offers four ensuite bedrooms that are quaint, comfortable and full of charm. Built before the Main House, it is an historic part of the estate rather than a modern annex. Each room overlooks the walled garden, and guests staying here also enjoy use of the reception rooms in the Main House. Between the Main and the Yellow House we can accommodate groups of 20 people.
