Tonight we have a book club staying who will gather here shortly for pre-dinner drinks.

They’ve confessed that it will not be a very “book-y” occasion

We’re so happy to see some of our North American guests returning.

Only a trickle of them so far but a trickle is definitely better than what was their complete absence for the best part of 18 months.

3rd October 2021:

Eric Burdon recorded his first solo album “Darkness Darkness” at Roundwood in 1978 when the house was owned and cared for by the Irish Georgian Society.

Apparently they lined the front hall with bales of straw to dampen the acoustics.

Word on the street is that the Rolling Stones also partied here around that time but unfortunately we have no hard evidence on that front!

So great that families can get together again for such important milestones!

In the absence of guests, the girls’ dolls and teddies appear to be taking over. They get to every seat in the house before me!

Got this beautiful 100% cashmere rug at a local auction for a really good price. It had been placed in storage and nibbled by a few mice but no damage done that couldn’t be strategically hidden by a piece of furniture. Isn’t she a beauty?
