Private Parties
We have just returned from a wonderful weekend at Roundwood House where a group of family and friends celebrated John’s 70th birthday! It was truly magical and we felt so much at home in this great house. Hannah and Paddy and their two gorgeous girls obviously love sharing their home with their guests. They were the perfect hosts – there when we needed them and just quietly in the background the rest of the time… Our friends think we are now the perfect event managers but really all we had to do was to contact Hannah, and she and Paddy and all the staff did the rest. No problem at all but we’ll take the credit!!

Life is a special occasion...
Roundwood is the perfect backdrop for any special occasion, whether it’s a big birthday, a significant anniversary, or a gathering of friends or family because… well, life is short and sometimes we should just get together for the hell of it.
Booking the house on an exclusive basis allows you to fully relax and enjoy each other’s company in complete privacy. Kick off your shoes by the open fire in the Drawing Room, sing at the tops of your voices, or wander down for breakfast in your pyjamas without being judged by strangers; your family and friends already know what you’re like.
Home from home, with no washing up...
You and your guests will have the choice of our ten beautifully proportioned bedrooms with original Georgian features & furniture and ensuite bathrooms, accommodating up to a maximum of 20 people. We can also accommodate additional guests in our two cottages on the gounds, both perfect for two people & within easy walking distance of the main house.
On your arrival we will greet you with tea/coffee & our homemade biscuits or scones, with top ups available on request throughout your stay.
Relaxing is productive...
The Drawing Room is the perfect place for your group to get together when you first arrive or anytime during the day. Cosy & warm with the fire always lit and comfortable couches, you’ll find our full drinks and wine menu here – perfect for pre-dinner drinks.
You can also visit the Library & browse Frank’s eclectic selection of books, play a game of scrabble or cards with your group, or we can set this beautiful, warm space up for a pre-dinner drinks reception. This converted coach house, where you can still see stone arches in the walls, offers a view of and access to the well-tended garden with a gorgeous selection of flowers, plants & sculptures.
Life is more fun if you play games...
Activities for your group can be organised by us in advance at your request. Favourites include foraging with Wild Food Mary & croquet or boules on the lawn.Â
You can also just enjoy the beautiful grounds of Roundwood House & discover ancient oak, beech & Spanish chestnut trees, woodlands flowers, wild flower gardens, as well as many interesting old outbuildings. Meander through the paths we have cut through the meadow with old strains of native Irish grasses or take the perimeter walk accompanied by Rococo the dog, who will lead you back to the path if you happen to get lost. Or simply take a seat & enjoy the views our sheltered lawn has to offer.Â
Every celebration is truly unique at Roundwood.
To talk to us about holding your private party or special occasions here please email or call us.
We promise that if you can round up your troops, we’ll take care of the rest!
A grey day in April - clouds touching the ground, thick mist turning sometimes into rain, roads waterlogged and busy - and then Roundwood House!! The door opened and our day changed utterly! Rays of warmth flowed out to greet us. Within minutes we were seated by a fantastic blazing turf and wood fire in the Drawing Room, served the loveliest cup of real tea (tea leaves not tea bags!!!) and wonderful homemade biscuits…
We were a family group spanning four generations and all our needs were catered for with the utmost care and attention. Thank you all for an amazing weekend at Roundwood House. It was superb and magical. A truly charming venue for a special family gathering.
