Enjoy Delicious Irish Food…

Do you know why French cuisine evolved into such a fancy and complicated affair? Because their ingredients were terrible.  Covered in the right amount of wine, butter and salt, most things become delicious. Ireland, on the other hand is blessed with amazing ingredients.

Roundwood is nestled in the heart of the midlands and surrounded by farmers who produce the best lamb, beef, dairy and vegetables that any kitchen could hope to avail of. And so, combining these fantastic ingredients with imagination, and influences from kitchens across the globe has become our passion.

We also believe in making everything ourselves. From the bread, yogurt and muesli served at breakfast, to the crackers accompanying your cheese course, everything is made in-house.  The kitchen at Roundwood is an engine, constantly humming away.  From the moment weary travelers walk through the front door they are greeted with the smell of stock bubbling, bread baking, and garlic. Always garlic!

Our menus are informed by the season and by Mick, our butcher. A menu starts to come together when we assess the best that both have to offer. Below are a couple of sample menus, the elements of which may change, depending on the time of year.

A recent addition to our menu is the “Sixth-Course”, a musical palate cleanser often dished out to unsuspecting guests by singing chefs Paddy and Ted. We like to think of it as the soundtrack to your memory of dining at Roundwood.
